THE CERV PROGRAM
The European program "Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values" (CERV) was lauchned in 2021 and is scheduled to run for 7 years until 2027. It was created together with the "Justice Program 2021-2027" under the Fund "Justice, Rights and Values".
The CERV program aims to develop and sustain an open, open-minded society built on the democratic, just, and inclusive civil rights of the rule of law, promoting a civilized, dynamic, and autonomous society. This project therefore focuses on cultivating the rich diversity of European society by encouraging the democratic and civil participation of citizens, and this is done based on shared values, history, and memory.
The CERV program is built on four pillars:
- Equality, civil rights, and gender equity: dissemination of rights, non-discrimination, and equality (gender equity included); integration of such policies and non-discrimination at all levels.
- Inclusion and participation of citizens: Promoting the involvement and participation of citizens in the democratic life of the European Union, as well as in exchanges between citizens of different member states, and promoting collective awareness of the common European past.
- Daphne: Fight against (domestic) violence in general, between the sexes and against minors.
- EU/Union values: protection and dissemination of European values.
Civil society organizations active at local, regional, national, and transnational levels, as well as other stakeholders, can receive funding for initiatives dedicated to the inclusion of citizens, (absolute) equality for all, and the protection and dissemination of civil rights and EU values.
